Greenville, Sinoe County –
In a continued effort to strengthen community systems that protect women and girls from violence, medica Liberia has officially launched the second phase of the “Strengthening Local Structures for Sustainable SGBV Response” Project in Greenville City, Sinoe County.
The one-day inception meeting brought together key local stakeholders to reaffirm their shared commitment to building safer, more inclusive communities through collaborative action and sustained local ownership.
Speaking during the launch, Madam Theresa Martin, Team Lead of Greenville Office, medica Liberia, expressed deep appreciation to partners and participants for their ongoing support. She emphasized that this new phase reflects Medica Liberia’s enduring commitment to solidarity, empowerment, justice, and dignity for all.
“Our goal is not just to respond to SGBV, but to strengthen the very systems that prevent it—ensuring that every woman and girl in Sinoe can live in safety and with dignity,” Madam Martin stated.
Mr. Jonathan Jaygbay, the M&E Officer, Facilitator, presented an overview of the project’s framework and outlined its focus on capacity-building, service coordination, and survivor-centered interventions. He highlighted the importance of working together with local actors—particularly community-based organizations, service providers, and protection networks—to sustain progress and expand the impact of SGBV prevention efforts.
The inception meeting gathered representatives from the Protection Network, Service Providers, Community-Based Organizations (CBOs), the County Gender Coordinator’s Office, the Office of the County Superintendent, and Medica Liberia’s implementing team. Participants reaffirmed their commitment to partnership, transparency, and community-driven solutions.
Implemented by medica Liberia with support from Brot für die Welt “Bread for the World“, the project seeks to enhance local protection mechanisms, strengthen survivor support services, and build resilient structures that promote gender equality and human rights in Sinoe County.
